Al “Bubba” Baker and his daughter Brittani pitched boneless baby back ribs on Shark Tank—real ribs with the bones removed after cooking. With $154K in sales and patents in hand, they struck a deal with Daymond John: $300K for 30%.
The product later launched in Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, and total sales reportedly crossed $16 million. But behind the scenes, tensions grew. The Bakers claimed they weren’t getting paid and felt sidelined. Legal battles followed, and by 2024, the business had effectively shut down.
A pitch that once seemed like a touchdown turned into a cautionary tale.
The luckiest thing that will ever happen to you in making money is who you accidentally meet. One conversation can change your life. It could be an investor, a mentor, a co-founder, or someone who connects you to the right opportunity.
You can’t plan for it, but you can increase the odds. Show up. Talk about what you’re building. Stay curious. The right person at the right time can change everything.
Lyft started with a quirky idea: pink mustaches on cars and fist bumps between drivers and passengers. What began as a friendly, offbeat alternative to taxis quickly evolved into a $15 billion ride-sharing empire. By focusing on community, affordability, and convenience, Lyft tapped into a growing demand for app-based transportation. It expanded rapidly across major U.S. cities, competing fiercely with Uber while differentiating itself through brand personality and driver-friendly policies
AI video is transforming our imagination...literally!
MiniMax Hailuo 02 on OpenArt is the only video model at the moment that can do "Transformer" like scenes due to it's stellar dynamics and acrobatics. Although this is a WIP I still wanted to show it's potential. This is done with text-to-video only so it will only get better once I try it with image to video.
I'm excited to take on this challenge to recreate some fond childhood memories!
Whole Foods began in 1978 when John Mackey and Renee Lawson Hardy opened a small natural foods store called “SaferWay” in Austin, Texas. With just $45,000 raised from family and friends, the young couple lived in the store, showered using a hose, and stocked organic groceries out of their garage. Two years later, they joined forces with two other local health food entrepreneurs and opened the first official Whole Foods Market. What started as a humble garage operation quickly grew into a natural foods empire, eventually acquired by Amazon for $13.7 billion in 2017.
