Elon Musk has often said that his mind feels like a storm, packed with ideas that keep coming faster than he could ever act on. Innovation has never been the bottleneck for him. Execution is what limits how much he can actually bring to life.
One example he shared is a complete design for an electric supersonic vertical takeoff jet that he’s held onto for more than a decade. He believes in the idea but admits he doesn’t have the bandwidth to pursue it while running Tesla, SpaceX, and his other companies.
He also explained that this restless mental energy was always there, though his difficult childhood amplified it. Even during happy moments as a kid, he felt a swirl of forces in his head. Today, that turbulence finds its outlet in technology and building companies, turning chaos into breakthroughs that have reshaped industries.
